How to Measure Your Ring Size at Home
1. What You’ll Need:
- A strip of paper or piece of string (preferably non-stretchy)
- A pen or marker
- A ruler (preferably with millimeters)
2. Step-by-Step Measurement Guide:
Step 1: Prepare the Strip of Paper or String
Cut a thin strip of paper roughly 3-4 inches long or use a piece of string.
Step 2: Wrap It Around Your Finger
Wrap the paper or string around the base of the finger you wish to size. Ensure it’s snug but still comfortable – tight enough to not fall off, but not squeezing.
Step 3: Mark the Overlap Point
With your pen or marker, make a small mark at the point where the paper or string meets.
Step 4: Measure the Length
Lay the paper or string flat and measure from the end to your mark using your ruler. Note the length in millimeters.
3. Use a Ring Size Chart
Once you’ve measured your finger's circumference in millimeters, refer to a ring size chart to find your corresponding ring size. For example:
- 47 mm circumference = US size 4
- 48 mm circumference = US size 4.5
- 49 mm circumference = US size 5
- 51 mm circumference = US size 5.5
- 52 mm circumference = US size 6
- 53 mm circumference = US size 6.5
- 54 mm circumference = US size 7
- 57 mm circumference = US size 8
4. Measuring Tips
- Measure later in the day: Fingers can swell throughout the day – it’s best to measure at the end of the day when they’re at their largest.
- Consider knuckle size: If your knuckles are larger than the base of your finger, choose a size that fits over the knuckle but isn’t loose at the base.
- Measure twice to be sure: Accuracy matters — repeat the measurement to confirm you’ve got it right.
